About a month ago, I made the decision to turn my Bell Bear into a big sister.
I had been toying with the idea of getting a kitten, but wasn’t quite ready to commit. However, as I was scrolling through Best Friends Animal Society’s website, everything changed.
Animal shelters have been hit super hard since COVID, with many of them being overrun and understaffed. They had a whole list of kittens with only $10 adoption fees?! These kittens had already been spayed/neutered, microchipped, and had their first round of shots!
Now you tell me…. how could I resist when I saw that picture? ^^^
The description said his name was Fruit Fly. He was 4 months old and very energetic! He was dog friendly and needed a good home. After filling out an application and speaking with a worker from the shelter, arrangements were being made with his foster family.
In October 20th, 2020, Cosmo Fruit Fly joined the family! It’s been a crazy ride ever since. He’s traveled with me from Salt Lake City to Denver. He moved into my new house with me, and has been helping turn It into a home..
He’s gone hiking with Bella & I and he LOVES being outside! He’s even starting to chase sticks in the yard, just like his big sister.
Getting a kitten was such a great decision for our family and I couldn’t imagine life without him at this point. He completes me and makes our family feel whole! There’s so many years of adventure ahead Cosmo, and I’m so lucky I was chosen to be your momma! 🙏🏼💛🐱

COVID has caused al if stress in a lot of shelters. They have been having an influx of animals coming in, but not nearly enough going out. Most have been forced to operate with almost no staff, and many have been forced to shut their stores.
Whether you have a few extra bucks to donate to a shelter, or a loving home to open up to a pet… anything is helpful! Most shelters are actively seeking foster homes right now for all animals, as well as offering super low adoption costs. Below I have put several links to several different shelters. Anything you can spare will be incredibly helpful 🙏🏼🐱🐶
