Are you ready for your season to start, but nervous about corona? How will the virus effect skiing and snowboarding this year?
I went to Keystone Resort the other day, in Colorado. To start with, you do need to make reservations in advance! Not all resorts are doing this, but I do know most Epic resorts are!
The positive side of that, is WAY less people! Summit Express, Montezuma, and the Gondola we’re all open! Parts of the backside were open as well, although I didn’t ride back there.
Signs said only 2 unrelated parties per gondola ride, but It seemed everyone was riding by themselves or with only their own party! Also another benefit was being able to have the whole gondola to myself 🤪💃🏼
Some pointers to be aware of when riding this year:
• Masks are required in the village and in line!
• Bring water! The water fountain at the bottom was closed and there weren’t cups at the one at the top!
•Outside restaurants are still open at the bottom!
•Stay as far away from people as possible! In line (and walking around) they are encouraging social distancing. Stay 6 feet away!
It seems that everything has been different this year. I almost didn’t buy a pass because of Covid, but I’m so glad I did.
Snowboarding is my happy place. My getaway. Such a huge spark in my life.
I definitely would have regretted not getting a pass this season. I need to feel the passion and the fire I feel while riding. I need the spark It puts back in my life. I need the escape It provides me from work and stress and grief and worry.
If you’re able to get out this season (and you feel safe doing it), take advantage of the resorts actually being open! Just remember, follow guidelines, stay home if you’re sick, and be respectful of others!
Be safe & HAVE FUN!
